Yesterday I went to Muir Woods for the first time and it was beautiful. We parked on Muir Woods Road because the parking lot was full and walked up a side trail instead of making our way to the Muir Woods entrance that was a long walk away. After walking for about an hour we headed back down the trail and drove to the parking lot. Luckily we scored rock star parking because they were closing at 5 and it was almost 4 already. The giant hundreds-of-years-old redwoods greeted us when we walked in. They were amazing and the incredibly clear creek beside the trails added to the wondrous beauty. It felt a little like being in a Lord of the Rings movie. My partner also kept commenting on how fresh and crisp the air was. Thank you Muir Woods for a lovely afternoon-I will return to walk amongst your redwoods again.
Our shadows are high-fiving!
See how clear the water is, on the map it says there are salmon sometimes. We weren't so lucky to see them.
That large mass was up in the tree and we have no idea what it could be. We wanted to ask the park staff on our way out but they had already left for the day since it was 5.
On our way home we caught a beautiful sunset as the fog rolled in. It was neat to see all the cars pulling over to take in the sunset and snap pictures. These sunset photos were taken while our car was moving, my partner wasn't so crazy about pulling over because he was hungry for dinner. I wish we had though, just for a few minutes at least just to drink it all in.
