I wanna hear it over and over my love.....

Ever since I saw this video on Cup of Jo I keep having the urge to listen to the song over and over (and over) again.  It's a cover of Sea of Love by Cat Power and was in the movie Juno.  New life list addition: learn to play Cat Power's cover of Sea of Love on guitar (my other guitar song that I intend to learn is Wonderwall by Oasis).  Enjoy both! I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Like a waterfall of polaroids...

I like to think about what kind of DIY wall art I'd like to put on my walls and for awhile I was considering painting a large horizontal stripe across my walls so that your eye can follow it around the room.  The only problem is that my walls aren't smooth, they're textured so the clean modern line sweeping across my living and dining nook wouldn't look so clean and sleek.  The other day I thought what if I made a thick horizontal line of photographs-like rows of photographs?! So I'm going to try that instead.  I haven't yet started on this project yet because I'm in the midst of downsizing my belongings/ putting things into storage, but I'm excited. I scoured the internet today looking for inspiration and found these great polaroid collections on display.  Now I NEED a polaroid camera!

This hotel suite is absolutely amazing!!!

 I love the oversized frame.

I think this is one of my favorite photos, I love the sofa, pillow, large frame with all the polaroids-there are so many elements that work wonderfully together.

It's a nice day for a white wedding...yeeaaahhhhhh....

Billy Idol shout out! If wearing white was appropriate for guests to wear at weddings then I would wear one of these white/creme colored dresses from Topshop. A bit much huh?  But since the bride has dibs on white I can definitely "settle" for the coral version instead. If I were the bride I'd probably wear the first dress to one of the dinners on my honeymoon. Aaaahhhhh the romance.

Delicate eyelashes made of paper....yes paper.....

I found these paper eyelashes by Paperself and was blown away. They're so intricate and delicate looking.  These would be fun to wear for Halloween or a special Saturday night outing.

These Horse Lashes are on sale at UrbanOutfitters for $12.99.

 These are the "individual" lashes.

They're peonies, my favorite flower!

You can also find both sizes at Asos here  and here.

These are Slap-solutely adorable!

Slapsolutely refers to the Slaps-giving episode of How I Met Your Mother-sorry I just saw the rerun on tv today. And yes it means giving slaps.

How adorable are these Valentine's Day cards from Martha Stewart? They're small and have hearts and shimmer and shine.  Talk about perfection!  You can give 18 Valentine's Day cards to 18 special Valentines for $4.99.   Also have you seen these "Punch All Over The Page" Paper punches? It uses powerful magnets to keep the paper in place while the punch does its work! No more cutting strips of paper to make punches from the edges of the page!

Twosome Blanket and its coffee table ....

So the photo below is to promote the Twosome Blanket, but I can't help but look at the coffee table.  It's beautiful and unique. I'd love to have it in my living room. Does anyone know who it's by? And doesn't that couple look cozy?

This would be a great Valentine's Day surprise....

I saw Erin Jang's (of The Indigo Bunting) birthday surprise for her husband back in November and thought that it was funny and really clever. She planned a wonderful day for him and gave him drawings throughout the day to give clues about their destinations. Haha "Slutty Cakes." This would be a great idea for Valentine's day as well.

I'm a sucker for ceviche...

Do you all like to eat ceviche? It's a seafood dish where the fish or shrimp or other raw seafood is marinated in citrus juices such as lime or lemon juice whose acidity cook the seafood.  I love ceviche, whenever it's on a menu, it's quite hard for me to resist, that and raw oysters. Yummy! In the last 10 days I've been lucky enough to try five different types of ceviche.  We went to La Mar Cebicheria Peruana in San Francisco and had the Cebiche Tasting which includes the Clásico (halibut), Mixto (Mahi Mahi, calamari and octopus),  Chalaco (mussels, scallops, octopus, calamari, shrimp) and Nikei (ahi tuna) cebiches. My fave was the Clásico.  My fifth ceviche was had at Marc 49 after our Muir Woods adventure.  It was made with Alaskan Cod and was delish.  It probably tasted even better to us because we were so hungry.  Unfortunately I don't have any food pictures from those nights but enjoy the drool worthy photo below and the ceviche recipe found at laylita.com.

Ingredients:
2lb of white fish fillets (corvina, halibut, sea bass, tilapia, sole), cut into small square pieces
2 red onions diced very finely
4 tomatoes diced very finely
2 bell peppers, 1 orange and 1 yellow, chopped very finely
20 limes, separated into about 10 limes to cook the fish and 10 limes for the ceviche marinade
1 bunch of cilantro (also known as coriander) chopped as finely as possible
Salt and sunflower oil

Preparation:
  1. Place the raw fish pieces in a glass dish and cover it with salt and lime juice from about 10-12 limes, the fish should be completely covered by lime juice.
  2. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator, let the fish marinate or cook itself in the lime juice for at least 4 hours.
  3. Mix the onions, tomatoes, peppers, and cilantro with the juice from the remaining limes and let marinate for about an hour.
  4. Once the fish is “cooked” in the lime juices rinse it well and mix it with the vegetable marinade, add salt and sunflower oil to taste.
  5. Serve with chifles, patacones, tostones or popcorn.

Muir Woods and the heart stopping sunset....

Yesterday I went to Muir Woods for the first time and it was beautiful.  We parked on Muir Woods Road because the parking lot was full and walked up a side trail instead of making our way to the Muir Woods entrance that was a long walk away.  After walking for about an hour we headed back down the trail and drove to the parking lot. Luckily we scored rock star parking because they were closing at 5 and it was almost 4 already.  The giant hundreds-of-years-old redwoods greeted us when we walked in.  They were amazing and the incredibly clear creek beside the trails added to the wondrous beauty.  It felt a little like being in a Lord of the Rings movie. My partner also kept commenting on how fresh and crisp the air was.  Thank you Muir Woods for a lovely afternoon-I will return to walk amongst your redwoods again.

Our shadows are high-fiving!

See how clear the water is, on the map it says there are salmon sometimes.  We weren't so lucky to see them.

That large mass was up in the tree and we have no idea what it could be.  We wanted to ask the park staff on our way out but they had already left for the day since it was 5.

On our way home we caught a beautiful sunset as the fog rolled in. It was neat to see all the cars pulling over to take in the sunset and snap pictures.  These sunset photos were taken while our car was moving, my partner wasn't so crazy about pulling over because he was hungry for dinner.  I wish we had though, just for a few minutes at least just to drink it all in.

A breath of fresh spring air...

Happy Martin Luther King Day! It's incredibly foggy right now in the bay area and hopefully the sun will come out because we're planning on going to Muir Woods today-yay! At least these Spring 2011 looks from J Crew will bring some nice, warm, sun-drenched Spring air my way through my laptop screen. The styling of the sequined maxi skirt + button up shirt makes me smile. I love sequins added for some sparkle! And is that a scalloped hem on those pink shorts? I love it!

Imagine the stories they could tell...

What wonderful pieces Erstwhile Jewelry has up on their website!  I love vintage jewelry not only because of the beauty but the history behind each piece.  The styling by Erstwhile Jewelry is also very lovely, they make the pieces really standout.
