Tonight I'll be snuggled at home with mi familia probably watching a movie. It's been chilly out so stay warm and have a safe and happy celebration!! I can't believe tomorrow will be 2011-it feels like the year 2000 was only five years ago. My goodness time flies by fast-so cliche I know. HAVE A FABULOUS NEW YEAR! (insert horn noise here)

Egg Salad Sandwich with Jalapenos? Say what!
For the past few nights I've been having late night cravings for something quick and easy to make. I had opened my mom's fridge and saw eggs, mayo, green onions, but alas no mustard! Then last night my mom and younger sis went out shopping for random household items and returned triumphantly with yellow mustard in hand! Yay! I made a simple egg salad sandwich with baby mustard greens or some lettuce-mustard greens hybrid that had a lighter taste than lettuce. Tonight I experimented by adding lime juice and diced jalapenos and ladies and gents I am converted-I love the spicy kick the jalapenos gave. I didn't take any photos b/c I gobbled it all up but I did some searching to see if other people have tried this and found the recipe for the sandwich below from Jalapeno Madness. It has avocado and feta, interesting!
My own recipe was pretty freehand and I didn't have any exact measurements but here's what I used :
3 large hardboiled eggs-peeled and chopped
1/2 serrano chili pepper diced
1 stalk of green onions chopped
Fresh ground pepper to taste
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon of yellow mustard (I eyeball it so you can add more according to your taste)
Lime juice from 1/8 wedge of a lime
2 Tb of mayonnaise (I also eyeballed this as well)
Lettuce
2 slices of bread, toasted
Just mix all the ingredients (except the lettuce and toast) together and then put it in between the lettuce and bread. Tada! Snack attack appeased!

Chasing Bits of Sunshine
I'm currently visiting family in Southern California and the weather has been cold and rainy for a few days but the other day my younger brother said "it's nice outside, do you see the sunshine over there?" haha. We ended up venturing out to do some final Christmas shopping and chase bits of sunshine around town. Merry Christmas and I hope your Christmases are as fabulous as the trees below look!

This photo is absolute perfection to me! From the pillow case, the tree, the chair. and the reindeer/goat/horse thing-I love it all!

Sushi Making Party!
A long time ago I went on a retreat to Lake Tahoe and we made sushi rolls and got dressed up and had an awesome dinner! Every now and then I think about how I can throw an awesome sushi making party that will be easy and fun for even the sushi rolling impaired. I saw a random ad about making sushi candy and thought "Okay I'm sold! Let's make this happen in 2011!" The candies look so cute! How can anyone resist? Hopefully they taste as good as they look and I'm excited about thinking up some chocolate versions! Maybe chocolate to look like unagi! Yum!

These are sushi cupcakes from nicloe.com. How amazing right?

I'm craving...french macarons!!
I had a french macaron for the first time last week when a coworker brought in homemade ones. They were fantastic and now I want more!
I don't really know what the perfect macaron is supposed to taste like since I've only eaten 2, but I like this photo from seriouseats.com.

It's been raining puppies and kittens in the bay!
It's been raining GIANT puppies and kittens in the SF Bay Area today and according to the weather reports tomorrow will be the same! Le sigh. Hopefully the weather is nicer where you are and if not, maybe these inspiring photos of Joel McHale's home (he's in NBC's Community and E's The Soup) in In Style Magazine will make you a little warmer. Have a lovely weekend!

Feel like royalty....
I have a thing for crown rings, tiara rings, etc. I think they're piece of art/jewelry/playing dress up. I really like the Princess rings below by Amery Carriere. They're pretty affordable but I wish they were available in gold to add that extra bit of "royalty" to them. These would make a great Christmas gift for that special someone you want to make feel like a princess!
Find them at My Sparrow.
Also I had a great time at Cavalia last night, the weather was dry and I burned a lot of calories walking to the location. The horses were beautiful and there were two rescue colts that are only 6 months old! I've never seen a horse that young in person before! The experience made me want to run home and get some horseback riding lessons or at least go horseback riding on the beach for an hour. I recommend checking it out if you really love horses, but if you're expecting a Cirque Du Soleil show with horses then this isn't the right show for you because the stars of the show are the horses and can anything really compare to Cirque Du Soleil?

Go ahead, it's ya birthday!!
So today is my birthday and I'm super excited because tonight I'm going to watch Cavalia with one of my best friends S!!! It's the show where horse and man become one haha it sounds slightly cheesy but I definitely love the cheese. I've only been on a horse once in my life and I was about 3 or 4 years old and have no memories except a recurring dream of being on a horse on small path on the side of the cliff. I suspect that riding experience was a little traumatic for me.

Thou art so cool.....
I've been drooling over this coat this season. It's the Blanket Coat aka Bostwick Coat by BB Dakota. It is the perfect mix of cool blues, toggle buttons, tribal print and a fur trimmed hood. I love it! It comes in a brown/orange/green version as well.
I wanna get arrested for my birthday!
I just saw Jamie Foxx on Ellen and he was so hilarious! And he's a Sagittarius like me! Check out the clip below to have a good laugh with Jamie Foxx! Happy B-day Mr. Foxx! He cracks me up!!

Happiness hit her like a train on a traaaaaaaaack...
So you've most likely heard this song playing on TV in the Eat Pray Love commercials or on the most recent episode of Glee (I love Glee!) and I must say I think the song is hands down amazing. But have you seen the music video? It's even more amazing!!
Do you watch music videos on TV anymore? I realized earlier today that I only watch them on youtube nowadays. How times have changed since the days of MTV TRL ha! Have a great weekend!

I love organic elements in the home
There's something "just right" about organic elements in the home. I think they make places look and feel warmer and cozier.
Like driftwood pieces such as this table found here.
Or these Agate Bookends, I just bought a pair at the Dickens Fair. Kind of weird to find them there but I guess even Dickens Fair "Londoners" can appreciate a good piece of design!
Or this tree stump table from West Elm. I've been drooling over tables like these for years but just never had the right place to put one. Some day....
And more photos from West Elm, they always impress me with their styling.

I dream of running away...
to an amazing place like Iceland. I'm having one of those days where you feel a little overwhelmed and want to either curl up into a ball with a warm blanket and nap OR run far away and have an unbelievable adventure. I choose adventure por favor! But I have to settle for the blanket. It's so beautiful isn't it?
You fancy huh?!
I have a real soft spot for jewelry and I'm pretty sure that I inherited it from my fabulous mother. The Shaun Leane earrings below definitely strike my fancy.
And I love how these are nature inspired and tough at the same time. Find the black enamel earrings here and the white diamond earrings here.
